ABOUT ULLAL
TOWN
Ullal Town with a population of 49835 as per 2001 census
consisting of two revenue villages Ullal and Parmannur in Mangalore
Taluk. This Ullal is located adjacent to City Corporation of
Mangalore at a distance of 10 KM from District head quarters. It is
identified as the Muslim holy place with historical fame sayyed
Madani Darga and also this Town approved by Karnataka tourism
development Corporation.
Ullal town is one of the coastal town in dakshina kannada
district. It is located at the outskirt of Mangalore city. This town
is surrounded by Arabian sea in western side and Netravathi River in
northern side. The nearest Railway station is Mangalore at distance
of 10 KM. and Mangalore Air port at a distance of 28 KM from Ullal
Town. This Local body under municipal act was established recently
and planning to implement various projects to provide civic
amenities. It is multi functional town and identified as market cum
service centre. This Town is an important trading centre for fish
and fish manure. The fishing and Beedi rolling etc are main
occupations of this town.

Ullal is one of 57 Karnataka cities
in the Nirmala Nagara - Municipal eGovernance project. All 57 cities
have got a comprehensive website as well
as the Public Grievance & Redressal module. Other important modules
to be launched by June 2006 are Property Tax,
Financial Accounting GIS
Mapping, Birth & Death Certification, and Ward
Works. Nirmala Nagara project is a
partnership between the
Urban Development Dept,
eGovernments Foundation
& Survey of India. These computer based systems
coupled with Govt. process re-engineering and GIS digital mapping
will provide transparency and accountability and smoother delivery
