A brief history:  This Town was known as Capital of Tulu Kingdom Ullal and was ruled by Brave Queen Rani Abbakka Devi in the middle of 15th Century and fought for Independence against Portuguese. The Famous religious centers such as Sayyed Madani darga, Somanatheshwara Temple and St. Sebastian Church  are located in this town and also maintaining Communal Harmony. Ullal town is situated coastal area of Arabian Sea and notified as the Beach Resort from Tourism Department

 Summer sand Beach    

                                                                                                                                                     Summer   Sands Beach Resort situated at Ullal Beach is around 15 Kms away from Mangalore to the South. Set in 14 acres of casuarina groves, has well furnished cottages and makes a pleasant getaway from the city. Restaurant servers good seafood to satiate one's appetite.       

                                     

Ullal Darga

The Darga of Sayed Mohammed Shereful Madani, who is said to have come to Ullal from Madina 400 years ago is a famous darga in this region. Thousands of people from various states visit the mosque to participate in the Urus festival which is celebrated once in every 5 years.

Someshwar Beach                                   

It is 9 Kms to the south of Mangalore, and 1/2 Km from the Someshwara Bus stand, this beach is well known for the large rocks called "Rudra Shile". Kotepur: It is situated in Ullal. The fort of the Rani Abbakka Devi can be visited from here. Ullal, just 5 km from Mangalore is a lovely spot for those seeking a holiday by the sea. With its picturesque Casuarina groves, beach cottages and a swimming pool one can spend tranquil hours seeking peace in this paradise


How to Reach: Ullal is situated on the south bank of the Netravati river at a distance of 10 kms from Mangalore. Three National Highways pass through  Mangalore city  i.e; N.H. 17, N.H.48, N.H. 13. A domestic Airport is located at Bajpe, which is 15 km from city, connecting it to Mumbai and Bangalore. Mangalore is also linked by railways to all major cities of India (konkan Railways).  And is also having All Season Sea Port (New Mangalore Port Trust, Panamboor) connects to the other countries of the world.
